IMPORTANT NOTICE: New, Improved Coating FormulaNew higher temperature coating goes on faster and sticks better.
For best results, you may now use higher temperatures and shorter dwell times depending on fabric being mended and application variables such a sealing pressure of heat seal machine. Please adjust your procedure for best results. Never use a temperature or dwell setting too hot for the fabric being mended. Test on scrap.
Patch-It® tapes and pre-cut patches are recommended for use on all cottons, woolens, linens, polyester/cotton blends, perma-press and soil release fabrics.
1.Prepare Item To Be Mended
Trim hole or tear if necessary. Material to be mended should be clean, as patch will not adhere properly to soiled fabric.
2. Set Temperature
On heat seal machine, set temperature at 204°C to 232° C depending on fabric type being mended. Pre-heat unit before application following machine manufacturer’s directions. If a hand iron is used, set to cotton or highest setting (up to 232°C). Be careful not to use heat too high for fabric being mended.
3. Cut A Patch
Make a patch that is 13 mm larger than the area to be mended. Round the corners of the patch slightly for best results. A pre-cut patch may be selected in the same manner.
4. Finish
Place Patch-It® with coated (shiny) side against the area to be mended. Set heat seal machine times for 6-10 seconds, depending on fabric being mended. Operate machine to apply heat and pressure. Release when dwell time is completed. If a hand iron is being used, apply firm pressure in a circular motion for 10-20 seconds. A scorch cloth may be used if necessary. Use a dry iron-no steam. Allow mended article to cool before handling.
